Business Magnet Program

Business Magnet Program

Pearl-Cohn was established in October of 1986. The school combined the zones of the original Cohn and original Pearl High Schools. The Business Magnet program is incorporated within the comprehensive high school as a Smaller Learning Community (SLC).

Students are eligible for paid internships and college scholarships. An advisory council composed of outstanding educational, business, and community leaders and stakeholders, and local school personnel provide input for the curriculum and administration of the program, as well as sponsoring the annual Pearl-Cohn Taste of Nashville fundraising event.

The Firebird Savings Bank is an outstanding opportunity for students to work and where they are encouraged to save money.

Virtual Enterprise is a class which involves students in the aspects of running a business, enabling students to understand how employees, workgroup teams, and departments interact with each other and work together for the goal of the company. The program is set up so that students will ultimately operate a business completely online, in addition to participating in leadership conferences and participating in Business Plan competitions with other schools across the country.

Internships for the Business Magnet students are available during the summer months to give students practical experience in the business community, as well as to establish an ongoing presence for the school in the community.
